Best Blackjack Games in Las Vegas

There are many ways to play traditional blackjack in Las Vegas. These include the following.

There are many differences between blackjack games, even when the same number of decks is used. Some casinos may pay 3:2 on a blackjack, for example, while others only pay 6:5.

Most games allow players to double down on anything in the first two cards. Others only permit double down on 10 or 11.

Two Las Vegas casinos allow players to double down on three cards. Double down after splitting may or may not be permitted.

Some casinos allow surrender in six- or eight-deck games, while others do not. Some casinos only allow players to split aces once, while others allow it up to three times. The dealer may hit soft 17 or stand on it. All these rules are covered within each section. Below

Single-Deck Blackjack in Las Vegas

There are 21 casinos in the Las Vegas area that spread single-deck blackjack. Only two of them have playable games. That is because they pay 3:2 on a blackjack. The other 19 pay 6:5. The dealer hits soft 17 at all.

El Cortez offers the best single-deck blackjack rules.

Single-deck blackjack has a $5 minimum bet at El Cortez. Blackjack pays 3:2. Players may double down on the first two cards but not after splitting. Split aces only receive one card.

El Cortez is known as a joint that does not like big bet spreads. You may get limited if you try it. It is best to stick to the same bet range from the beginning to ending of the deck to avoid problems. This game has a house edge of 0.3%.

Silverton also has 3:2 single-deck. The minimum is $10. It is different from El Cortez because it only allows double down on 10 and 11. This house edge is 0.58%.

The other casinos with single-deck blackjack pay 6:5 and allow double down on any two cards. The house edge here is 1.7% at these casinos. Caesars Palace only allows double down on 10 and 11. That puts the house edge at 1.97%.

Double-Deck Blackjack in Las Vegas

Las Vegas double-deck blackjack comes in many shapes and sizes. The best blackjack game in the market is a double-deck one. However, there are many terrible ones out there, too.

M Resort spreads the best double-deck blackjack game in the Las Vegas Valley.

Double-deck blackjack is in the high-limit section at M Resrot. The minimum bet is $50. Players may double down before and after splitting. Aces may be split up to three times. The dealer stands on soft 17. The house edge is just 0.19%. It is not just the best double-deck game in the Las Vegas market; it is the best blackjack game anywhere.

Several Las Vegas Strip casinos offer stand on 17 double-deck games with the same rules as M Resort, except that aces may not be re-split. Treasure Island offers this game with a $50 minimum bet. It is $100 at Bellagio and Mirage. Aria and Mandalay Bay post a $200 minimum bet at these tables. The house edge is 0.26%.

The next-best double-deck games around Las Vegas are available at a few locals casinos. It has the M Resort re-split aces rule, but the dealer hits soft 17. Players will find this game at Aliante Casino, Arizona Charlie’s, Cannery, Eastside Cannery, Rampart, and Silverton with a $5 minimum bet. It is $50 at Green Valley Ranch, $100 at Red Rock Resort, and $200 at Palms.

Dozens of Las Vegas casinos offer 3:2 double-deck games with double down before and after splitting with the dealer hitting soft 17. Locations include most Station Casinos properties, Suncoast, Gold Coast, Orleans, Jokers Wild, and Silver Sevens for $5. Treasure Island has it for $10. It is spread for $25 at Plaza, Golden Gate, The D, and Golden Nugget.

Bighorn Casino is on East Lake Mead in North Las Vegas. Longhorn is on Boulder Highway. Players may double down on two or three cards, including after the split. Surrender is available. Aces may be re-split. The dealer hits soft 17. The house edge for this game is 0.26%. The minimum bet is $5.

The high-limit six-deck shoes are nearly as great. These games stand on all 17s. Double down before and after splitting is permitted. Surrender and re-split aces are available. Treasure Island offers this game for $50. Slower times will also make this game $50 at Bellagio and MGM Grand, though it may also be $100. Aria, Mirage, Red Rock Resort, and Green Valley Ranch regularly spread it for $100. Mandalay Bay and Palms require $200 to get into this game. The house edge on this game is 0.29%.

Caesars high-limit salons have six-deck games with double down before and after splitting with surrender. Re-split aces is not available. The house advantage here is 0.35%.

Other Blackjack Variants in Las Vegas in 2019

There are nine blackjack variants spread in Las Vegas. Most are worse than standard blackjack games. One exception is Double Attack Blackjack. That game is spread at Bally’s. The minimum bet is $5 or $10, depending on the time of day. It has a house edge of 0.62%.

Blackjack Switch has a house advantage of 0.58%. However, it is a difficult game to learn, and skill is required to get anywhere near that return. Most Las Vegas Strip casinos offer this game. Four Queens has it Downtown.

Spanish 21 is another variant with a decent house edge. It is 0.76%. This game is spread at Palazzo and Venetian. The minimum bet is usually $10 or $15.

Free Bet Blackjack is available in two forms. Most casinos pay 6:5 on a blackjack. This game has a house edge of 2.42%. Eastside Cannery, Golden Gate, Plaza, and The D pay 3:2. The edge here is 1.02%.

The other five blackjack variants in Las Vegas are unplayable due to the significant house edge. These include Bonus Spin Blackjack, Super Fun 21, Most Liberal 21, Zombie Blackjack, and Down Under Blackjack.

Best Las Vegas Blackjack by Area

There are three distinct sections of the Las Vegas blackjack market. There is the Las Vegas Strip, Downtown, and the locals market. We cover those sections below.

The Las Vegas Strip is too large to put into one section. We split it into three. The north part of the Strip starts at Stratosphere and runs down to Venetian on the east side and Treasure Island on the west. The south section starts at Mandalay Bay and goes up to Planet Hollywood on the east side of the Strip and Aria on the west. The central section is everything between the north and south.

Downtown includes anything on Main Street, Fremont Street, or Ogden. The off-Strip portion is everything else, even if it is just one casino off Las Vegas Blvd, all the way to Railroad Pass near Boulder City and Red Rock Resort in Summerlin.

Blackjack on North Las Vegas Strip

The blackjack on this part of the Strip varies greatly, depending on the casino. There is a wide range of action in this part of the Las Vegas Strip. It includes $5 3:2 games, as well as an abundance of 6:5 tables at the higher-end resorts.

Stratosphere

Low-limit players will like the $5 3:2 blackjack at Stratosphere. It uses six decks, and double down before and after splitting is allowed. The dealer hits soft 17. Make sure to check the felt on the tables, as some pay 6:5. The other blackjack game at Stratosphere is a 3:2 $25 double-deck with the same rules.

Treasure Island

Treasure Island is another good choice for low-limit blackjack on this part of the Las Vegas Strip. All the double-deck and six-deck tables pay 3:2. The minimum at both of those games is $10. There is stadium blackjack with a $1 minimum during the week and $3 on weekends with the same payout.

The Treasure Island $10 games hit soft 17 and permit double down before and after splitting. The six-deck tables add surrender and re-split aces. For $50, the high-limit game stands on all 17s.

Wynn and Encore

Wynn and Encore are sister casinos. Wynn typically has higher limits than Encore. Both casinos require $25 to get a 3:2 game. However, that game includes double-deck at Encore. Six-deck 3:2 games are available at both for $25. A double-deck game has a $100 minimum at Wynn. Stand on all 17 shoes start at $200.

The double-deck tables at Wynn and Encore allow double down before and after splitting. The six-deck tables add surrender and re-split aces.

Venetian and Palazzo

Venetian and Palazzo are sister casinos owned by Las Vegas Sands. The two properties are nearly identical in their blackjack offerings. It is the only Las Vegas casino with Spanish 21. Blackjack Switch is also available here. Each has a $10 minimum bet. These are the only blackjack games under $50 with a house edge under 1% because the others all pay 6:5.

For $50, players get a 3:2 game. The choices are double-deck or six-deck. Both allow double down before and after splitting. The dealer hits soft 17. The shoe game adds surrender and re-split aces. For $100, the six-deck game stands on all 17s.

Circus Circus

There are 20 blackjack tables at Circus Circus. Most are usually closed. Only one pays 3:2. That is a $15 six-deck game with double down before and after splitting. The rest are 6:5 tables.

SLS Las Vegas

SLS Las Vegas is under a remodel by new ownership. This cut the number of table games on the property drastically. There are still enough blackjack tables for the level of demand. Players will find $15 six-deck games with a 3:2 payout. The dealer hits soft 17. Double down before and after splitting, surrender, and re-split aces are all available. For $100, this game is spread in the high-limit salon with stand on all 17s.

For $25, there is a 3:2 double-deck game. Double down before and after splitting is allowed. The dealer hits soft 17.

The blackjack quality near the center of the Las Vegas Strip is only available to higher-limit players. This is where MGM Resorts and Caesars spread good high-limit games, and the offerings below $25 are generally 6:5.

Bally’s

The blackjack at Bally’s is reasonable in terms of return-to-player, especially considering the location. For $10 or $15, depending on the time of day, players will find 3:2 eight-deck blackjack with double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender. This game hits soft 17. For $50, you can get this game with the dealer standing on all 17s. There is a $25 double-deck game with no double after splitting. The dealer hits soft 17 here.

Bellagio

Bellagio requires $50 to get a 3:2 blackjack game these days. That is a stand on 17 six-deck table. Double down before and after splitting is allowed with surrender and re-split aces. For $100, there is a stand on all 17 double-deck table with double down before and after splitting. The only other playable blackjack game at Bellagio is Blackjack Switch. All other tables pay 6:5.

Caesars Palace

Caesars Palace offers a wide range of blackjack. All the good games are under the dome in the front of the casino or in the high-limit salon. The cheapest game runs $10 to $25, depending on the time of day and day of the week. It uses eight decks and allows double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender. It hits soft 17. The high-limit salon offers this game with stand on all 17s for $100. It may go to $200 during busy periods.

The high-limit salon also has a double-deck game for $100 that allows double down before and after splitting. The dealer hits soft 17 here.

Make sure to avoid all the blackjack games that are not under the dome or in high limit. They all pay 6:5. Most are some of the worst in Las Vegas due to bad rules beyond 6:5, such as Free Bet Blackjack or only being able to double down on 10 and 11.

Cosmopolitan

Most of the blackjack tables at Cosmopolitan pay 6:5. Walk to the back pit to find 3:2 six-deck games with double down before and after splitting. Surrender and re-split aces are also available here. The dealer hits soft 17. For $100, players will find this game with stand on all 17s. High-limit also has a $100 double-deck game that stands on all 17s. Double down before and after splitting are allowed.

Cromwell

Cromwell offers the best low-limit gambling in the Caesars Entertainment Las Vegas family. Eight-deck games are spread with 3:2 payout and a $10 or $15 minimum. These games have double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender. This game hits soft 17. For $100, the high-limit version of this has six decks and stands on all 17s. There is also a $15 double-deck game that hits soft 17. Double down before splitting is allowed, but not after splitting.

Flamingo

Flamingo offers three 3:2 blackjack games. For $15, there is eight-deck action with double down before and after splitting plus surrender. This game hits soft 17. The $100 high-limit version of this has six decks and stands on all 17s. Note that high-limit is not always open. For $25, there is double deck with double down before but not after splitting.

Harrah’s

Harrah’s has the same blackjack games that Flamingo has. The only difference is that the high-limit salon at Harrah’s is open 24 hours a day.

Linq

There are two 3:2 blackjack games at Linq. One is a double-deck with double down before splitting. An eight-deck game has double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender. Both games hit soft 17.

Mirage

Mirage offers typical MGM Resorts blackjack. For $25, you can get a six-deck game with double down before and after splitting, surrender, and re-split aces. This game hits soft 17. For $100, it stands on all 17s. There is a double-deck game that stands on all 17s for $100. This game allows double down before and after splitting.

Paris Las Vegas

Paris Las Vegas offers a good mix of blackjack games for a Caesars Las Vegas Strip casino. Most tables pay 3:2. The minimum bet for this is $15. That gets you an eight-deck game with double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender. This game hits soft 17. For $100, you can get this game that stands on all 17s. It is in the high-limit salon.

Paris Las Vegas has $15 Blackjack Switch. There is also a $25 double-deck game. Double down before splitting is allowed. However, you cannot do this after splitting. The Blackjack Switch and double-deck tables hit soft 17.

The south end of the Las Vegas Strip offers some of the best blackjack in the world for high-limit players. On the other hand, low-limit players will run into a multitude of 6:5 games.

Aria

Aria has a few good blackjack games, though most of the low-limit tables are 6:5. Blackjack Switch is spread for $15. At $25, players get a six-deck game with double down before and after splitting, surrender, and re-split aces. For $100, this game is spread with the dealer standing on all 17s. A $200 game in the high-limit salon deals two decks and permits double down before and after splitting. The dealer stands on all 17s.

Excalibur

Excalibur spreads two blackjack games with a reasonable house edge. Blackjack Switch is offered with a $10 minimum. For $15, you can get a six-deck 3:2 blackjack game. This table allows double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender and re-split aces. All other blackjack tables at Excalibur tables pay 6:5.

Luxor

Luxor’s blackjack is identical to Excalibur’s, except that it takes $25 to get the six-deck 3:2 game. It has a high-limit salon with the same rules. It has a $100 minimum and is only open during peak hours.

Mandalay Bay

Mandalay Bay offers a few decent blackjack games. Blackjack Switch has a $10 minimum. Six-deck games where the dealer hits on soft 17 start at $25. Players may double down before and after the split, surrender, and re-split aces. For $200, high-limit offers this game with the dealer standing on all 17s. There is also a $200 double-deck game that stands on all 17s. Players may double down before and after splitting.

MGM Grand

MGM Grand offers the cheapest stand on 17 games in the MGM Resorts family of Las Vegas resorts. This game has a minimum bet of $25 or $50, depending on business levels. The double-deck game takes $100. Both games allow double down before and after splitting. The shoe game adds surrender and re-split aces. Blackjack Switch is also spread.

New York New York

There are two games worth playing at New York New York. This includes a $10 game, which is the cheapest six-deck 3:2 table at all MGM Las Vegas properties. It has the standard double down before/after splitting, surrender, and re-split aces. High-limit has a $100 double-deck game. Double down before and after splitting. Both games hit soft 17.

Park MGM

Park MGM is the new name for Monte Carlo. It has similar games to its predecessor. It takes $25 to get a 3:2 game. It has the standard MGM rules with double down before and after splitting plus surrender and re-split aces. Double-deck now requires $100. It has double down before and after splitting. Both games hit soft 17.

Tropicana

You now need $25 to get a 3:2 game. You can choose between double-deck and six-deck. Both hit soft 17 and allow double down before and after splitting. For $100, you can get a stand on all 17 game. It adds surrender and re-split aces. All blackjack games in the main pit pay 6:5.

Downtown Las Vegas offers a wide variety of blackjack games. All hit soft 17. Several Downtown Las Vegas casinos pay 3:2 on every blackjack. However, Binion’s only has one 3:2 blackjack table, and it is actually one of the worst games in Las Vegas.

Binion’s

The only blackjack game at Binion’s that pays 3:2 has a mandatory side bet. That makes it one of the worst blackjack games in Las Vegas.

California

The 3:2 blackjack games at California have a $5 minimum. One is double-deck. The other is six-deck. Both have the same rules. Double down is allowed before splitting but not after. The dealer hits soft 17.

Downtown Grand

All blackjack tables at Downtown Grand pay 3:2. The double-deck allows double down before and after splitting. It has a $15 minimum. The six-deck game adds surrender and re-split aces. It has a $5 minimum. Both games hit soft 17.

El Cortez

All blackjack games at El Cortez pay 3:2. Single-deck is the most popular and is the best game in Downtown Las Vegas. It allows double down before splitting. Double-deck adds double down after splitting. Both have a $5 minimum bet. The dealer hits soft 17 at El Cortez.

Fremont

Fremont has the typical Downtown Las Vegas Boyd Gaming rules. Double-deck and six-deck games have a $5 minimum. Double down before splitting is permitted, but not after. The dealer hits soft 17.

Golden Gate

All blackjack tables at Golden Gate pay 3:2. The eight-deck game is $5 and allows double down before and after splitting. A double-deck game is in high-limit with a $25 minimum. It has the same rules. There is also 3:2 Free Bet Blackjack

Golden Nugget

Golden Nugget blackjack is a mixed bag. Its Bonus Spin Blackjack in the front party pit is the worst blackjack game in Las Vegas. If you walk past that pit, you will find $10 or $15 six-deck blackjack games that pay 3:2. Double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender, are offered. For $50 in high-limit, you’ll get re-split aces.

There are two double-deck games at Golden Nugget that pay 3:2. For $15, players may double before splitting. The high-limit game adds double down after splitting. All blackjack tables at Golden Nugget hit soft 17.

Main Street Station

The only 3:2 blackjack game at Main Street Station is $5 double-deck. Double down before splitting is allowed but not after it. The dealer hits soft 17.

Plaza

Plaza has three decent blackjack games. It is one of the few casinos to pay 3:2 on Free Bet Blackjack. It also has six-deck blackjack with double down before and after splitting. These games have a $5 minimum bet. A $25 double-deck game has the same rules as the six-deck one. The dealer hits soft 17 at all Plaza blackjack tables.

Make sure to avoid the game called “Most Liberal 21.�? It pays even money on most blackjacks. The special rules do not overcome this disadvantage.

The D

All blackjack games at The D pay 3:2. This includes eight-deck where you can double before and after splitting and Free Bet Blackjack. Both have a $10 minimum bet. There is a high-limit blackjack game with the same rules as the six-deck one. The dealer hits soft 17 at The D.

Station Casinos properties tend to offer the same games. Double-deck games have a $5 or $10 minimum and allow double down before and after splitting. A six-deck game adds surrender. Green Valley Ranch, Red Rock, and Palms have high-limit salons. Each spread double-deck there that adds re-split aces. The minimum is anywhere from $50 to $200. Six-deck games where the dealer stands on all 17s is offered with $100 to $200 minimums. Players may double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender and re-split aces.
