A Closer Look Inside of Ignition Casino

Running an online casino is a daunting task. When players win, it often guarantees repeat business but also threatens to put a dent in your profit margin. When they lose, there’s the distinct chance that they’ll leave in frustration and never return. The trick is to find a middle ground between the two, paying out enough to keep players happy while also ensuring their continue patronage.

Because of this delicate balancing act, I’ve always held a certain admiration for anyone willing to bite the bullet and open a virtual gaming establishment. Many have tried and failed over the years, while others have enjoyed success and become legendary in the process.

Ignition Casino is one of the more recent sites to try their luck at the dual task of pleasing customers and making a profit. In the interest of promoting their efforts and informing the gaming public about their existence, I humbly present this review.

Site Certification

Ignition Casino is full certified and regulated by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, which is located in the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawake, Canada. This regulatory body first appeared in 1996, although their regulation regarding Internet gambling weren’t enacted until 1999.

The Commission currently issues licenses for over 250 gaming websites and 50 operators. Their right to do so has never been challenged by the Canadian government, and they’ve worked hard to establish a solid reputation within the gaming industry. A notable example came in 2009 after Ultimate Bet was found to have cheated players; they were fined $1.5 million by the Commission and ordered to refund $22 million to players.

Some readers might wonder what this has to do with the actual site, but the regulating body happens to be a lynchpin when it comes to ensuring a fair and consistent level of service. If the regulator takes their responsibilities seriously, then it gives customers somewhere to turn if they don’t receive satisfaction from the casino on a legitimate complaint. Crooked casinos try to avoid such oversight, so it’s a strong indication that Ignition isn’t trying to scam players.

Site Background

Ignition Casino was launched by Betting Partners, the same people who maintain a close relationship with:

Bovada Logo Bodog Logo Slots.lv LogoCafe Casino Official Logo Downtown Bingo Official Logo Joe Fortune Official Logo

All of these sites are licensed and regulated by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, and each is similar in regard to deposit and withdrawal limits. Their site design is almost identical, allowing anyone who’s familiar with one of the sites to easily navigate the others.

The affiliation with Bodog and Bovada is a major plus in my book, as these casinos have garnered a solid reputation during their years in business. This is especially important for those who seek to avoid slow-pay or no-pay gaming establishments, which is akin to kryptonite for the serious online gambler.

Countries Accepted by Ignition Casino

As of this writing, Ignition Casino only accepts players from the United States. This is something of an anomaly in the world of gambling, as most casinos either accept players from around the globe or at the very least shy away from the U.S. market. Still, it’s welcome news for all the American players who’ve struggled to find reliable virtual casinos following the passage of the UIGEA (which led some of the biggest gaming sites to refuse service to U.S. customers).

Opening an Account

Ignition is in the business of making money, which is why they want the process of opening an account to be as simple as possible.

When you click on the “Join” button, you’ll be asked to provide the following information:

  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Address (including street, city, town, and zip code)
  • Phone Number
  • Email
  • Password
  • City of Birth
  • Mother’s Maiden Name

Once you’ve provided the above info, all you have to do is click on the “Open Account” button. Assuming you’re over 18 and have entered all fields correctly, you should have an Ignition account within a matter of seconds.

In order to maintain security, Ignition may ask their clients to verify their accounts from time to time. If this occurs, you’ll need to make one of the following available:

At the top corner of the page, click on the balance amount. Or, if you prefer, you can achieve the same results by going to the dashboard page and clicking on “Make a Deposit.”
Use the drop-down menu to select one of the two available deposit methods.
Once you’ve picked your desired method, enter the amount of money you want to deposit and all the necessary account details. At this point, all that’s left to do is click the “Deposit” button.

This kind of request shouldn’t come up often, and it takes anywhere from 24 to 48 hours to complete the verification process. I assume you might be asked to provide the information if there was a possible security breach or the player is requesting a large withdrawal, but otherwise you should be able to avoid such hassles.

When it comes to opening an account, Ignition is right in line with the competition. The entire process should only take a matter of minutes, allowing you to enjoy some online gaming action as soon as possible. The possibility of having to later verify your account is something of a hassle, but this is once again fairly common throughout the industry.

Making a Deposit at Ignition Casino

In order to make a deposit at Ignition, you’ll need to follow three easy steps after logging into your account. These include the following:

At the top corner of the page, click on the balance amount. Or, if you prefer, you can achieve the same results by going to the dashboard page and clicking on “Make a Deposit.”
Use the drop-down menu to select one of the two available deposit methods.
Once you’ve picked your desired method, enter the amount of money you want to deposit and all the necessary account details. At this point, all that’s left to do is click the “Deposit” button.

Ignition currently offers two methods of deposit. This is one area where they lag behind their competitors, as the leading sites often offer a dozen or more options. I’ve listed the two methods below, as well as minimum and maximum deposit requirements.

Credit Cards - This is limited to Visa and Mastercard, so users of American Express or Diner’s Club are out of luck. The minimum deposit for this option is $20, while the maximum is capped at $1,000.
Bitcoin – This form of virtual currency is becoming more widely accepted at casinos, although those who aren’t tech savvy are likely to be confused by the entire concept. The minimum deposit requirement for this method is $20, while the maximum is $5,000.

At the moment, there are no additional fees for deposits made to Ignition Casino. This is standard for most casinos, however, so it’s not as if they’re doing anything special on that front. If you encounter any problems, a toll-free customer service number (1-855-682-5857) is available to walk you through the process.

While the process of making a deposit with Ignition is simple enough, I am disappointed with their lack of choices. Most casinos allow deposits to be made via services such as Western Union, but even this commonplace option isn’t available. While the inclusion of Bitcoin is great for those who know their way around a computer, it’s likely to only confuse those who grew up without the Internet.

The biggest advantage of Bitcoin is that it allows customers in the United States to send and receive money without worrying about the pesky Unlawful Internet Gambling Act of 2006. This law prohibited the transfer of money for the purposes of online gambling, but Bitcoin still falls into a legal gray area that American players can take advantage of (assuming they can figure out how to use it).

Also keep in mind that credit cards are supported by a variety of banks, and some are more hesitant about online gambling than others. For this reason, there’s always the possibility that your credit card deposit request is denied. That’s why I prefer to have additional options such as Western Union or a debit card.

Casino Bonuses & Promotions

The online casino business features a relentless level of competition, with each establishment pulling out all the stops in order to steer potential customers away from their rivals. This is often accomplished by offering a more pleasing design or superior selection of games, as well as bonuses and promotions to put extra money into a player’s account.

When I examined their website for this article, Ignition offered the following bonuses and promotions to their customers:

Welcome Bonus

When you first join Ignition and open an account, you’ll receive a 100% matching bonus up to $2,000 ($1,000 in the casino and $1,000 in poker bonuses). This amount is granted instantly, so the player doesn’t have to jump through a bunch of hoops in order to collect it. This bonus can only be collected once, and players are subject to a 25x playthrough requirement before the deposit, bonus amount, and any associated winnings can be withdrawn. If the playthrough requirement isn’t met within six months, then the bonus and all associated funds are forfeited. The following games aren’t eligible for meeting the playthrough: craps, roulette, baccarat, sic bo, single deck blackjack, and double deck blackjack. Slots, scratch cards, and specialty games such as keno count 100%, while table games count 60%.

Tell a Friend Bonus

For each friend that you refer, you’ll receive 200% of their first deposit (up to $100). There’s no limit to the number of friends that can be referred this way, and Ignition doesn’t care if you spread the word via social media, email, or through a direct link on your blog. A 25x rollover is required before the money can be withdrawn, and the following games do not count: sic bo, craps, roulette, double deck blackjack, and single deck blackjack. Table games only count 60% towards meeting the requirement, while slots, scratch cards, and specialty games are worth 100%.

Weekly Boost

Each week, Ignition offers 100% match bonuses up to $100. This takes the form of a bonus code that’s issued on a weekly basis, and customers can redeem it once per day during a seven-day period. A new bonus code appears each Monday, and playthrough requirements must be met before the complimentary money can be withdrawn. As with the other bonus offers, table games only count 60% towards playthrough, while slots, specialty games, and scratch cards count 100%. Games such craps, roulette, sic bo, and single and double deck blackjack don’t count towards the rollover amount.

At the moment, Ignition offers a sign-up bonus worth up to $1,000, a refer-a-friend bonus with no upper limit, and a weekly series of seven bonuses worth a maximum of $700. While there’s nothing wrong with these bonuses, older casinos tend to offer a few more options for specific games such as poker or blackjack. I expect the overall number of bonuses offered by Ignition Casino to grow over time. For the moment, however, they offer just enough free cash to entice customers to sign up and fund an account (which is the entire point).

While the bonuses offered by Ignition and competing casinos initially sound like a great deal, please keep in mind that the phrase “free cash” isn’t entirely true. If you receive $1,000 in bonus money with a 25x wager requirement, you’ll have to risk a minimum of $25,000 before you’ll be eligible to withdraw the initial amount (or any of the winnings you’ve picked up along the way). You may also have to meet the requirements within a specified period of time, forcing some customers to wager far more than they’re comfortable with.

There’s one other issue regarding bonuses that I want to discuss. The following can be found on the site’s terms and conditions page:

“Bonus programs are intended for recreational bettors only. Professional players or players considered, in our sole discretion, to be abusing the bonus system by any means may have bonuses revoked and be subject to further sanctions. Bonus abuse may be defined as (but not restricted to) clients cashing out for the purpose of redepositing, or referring new accounts that they are using themselves. Sanctions may be in the form of increased rollover requirements or loss of bonus privileges altogether for the offending Account as well as any linked Accounts. We reserve the right to restrict eligibility for special offers and bonuses when necessary. This includes (but is not limited to) placing geographic restrictions on match bonuses due to bonus abuse.”

While the above section regarding bonus abuse is commonplace on most sites, the early part that deals with “professional players” is a bit troubling. This sounds like an especially vague definition, possibly allowing the site to label anyone as a “professional” and thereby invalidating their winnings. That’s probably not the case, but such odd language inserted into a section that most customers never read is still a slight cause for concern.

Available Game Developers

In the old days of online gambling, a casino would receive all their games from a single developer. This resulted in a number of establishments offering a similar selection of games, but this linear way of thinking has begun to change in recent years.

At Ignition, they shy away from the outmoded thinking of “one casino, one software developer.” Instead, they take an approach that’s more like a modern buffet or salad bar, choosing what looks the most appetizing and leaving the rest. As a result, this casino offers a hybrid suite of gaming options from developers such as Betsoft, Rival, Genesis Gaming, and Realtime Gaming. The latter appears to provide the bulk of the games, but there’s enough variety present to provide the customer with a unique online experience.

I give Ignition high marks for this decision, as I’ve been complaining for years about all the casinos that wind up looking almost identical and offering the same selection. This provides the customer with a more customizable experience, and there’s a strong chance that they’ll be exposed to games that were previously unknown to them.

Games from Ignition Casino

Casinos, both virtual and land-based, usually offer a wide range of bells and whistles to impress their customers. However, when the sign-up bonus has been spent and the dazzling graphics no longer dazzle, the true test of a casino always comes down to the selection of available games.

The following casino games are currently available from Ignition:

Slot Machines

There are over 160 slots to choose from, and these are broken up into the following categories:

  • Rival
  • i-Slots
  • Progressives
  • Real Series
  • Five Reels
  • Three Reels
  • Video Slots

There’s a tremendous variety of slots to choose from, and Ignition has made the decision to draw their games from a number of different software designers. You’ll find longtime favorites such as Cleopatra’s Gold and Aztec’s Treasure, as well as more offbeat titles like Zombies vs Cheerleaders.

A lot of sites show the title of the game and nothing else, especially for those who haven’t created an account. That’s not the case at Ignition, as each slot has a detailed page listing rules, features, bonuses, progressives, and all other pertinent details. I always like to know as much about a game as possible, so this is a welcome addition that’s rare within the industry.

Blackjack Games

The site offers six blackjack games as of this writing, and they include the following:

  • Blackjack – The standard version of the game that’s played with six decks. The dealer hits on a soft 17, and insurance is available.
  • Double Deck Blackjack – Only two decks are used in this game, giving the player a higher theoretical return that with the traditional six deck version.
  • European Blackjack – In this version, the player completes all their moves before the dealer receives their second card. The dealer must also stand on a soft 17, which is different from the more popular American version.
  • Perfect Pairs – In addition to the usual game, players can also place a side wager that pays up to 25 to 1 if the initial two cards are a pair.
  • Single Deck Blackjack – This version of the game offers players the highest theoretical return. The dealer hits on a soft 17, and blackjack pays 3 to 2.
  • Zappit Blackjack – This variant offers players a chance to discard unwanted hands and replace them with new cards.
Table Games

Ignition offers players 11 table games to choose from. Here’s a complete list:

  • Blackjack
  • Baccarat
  • Caribbean Hold’em
  • Caribbean Stud Poker
  • Craps
  • European Roulette
  • Let ‘Em Ride
  • Pai Gow Poker
  • Roulette
  • Tri Card Poker
  • Vegas Three Card Rummy
Video Poker

17 different types of video poker are available at this time. I’ve listed all of the titles below for your convenience.

  • Bonus Deuces Wild 1 Hand
  • Bonus Poker 1 Hand
  • Bonus Poker Deluxe 1 Hand
  • Deuces Wild
  • Double Bonus Poker 1 Hand
  • Double Double Bonus Poker 1 Hand
  • Double Double Jackpot Poker 1 Hand
  • Double Jackpot Poker 1 Hand
  • Jacks or Better 1 Hand
  • Jacks or Better 10 Hands
  • Jacks or Better 3 Hands
  • Jacks or Better 52 Hands
  • Joker Poker 1 Hand
  • Joker Poker 10 Hands
  • Joker Poker 3 Hands
  • Joker Poker 52 Hands
  • Loose Deuces 1 Hand
Specialty Games

These games are broken into the following three categories:

  • Rival
  • Bingo
  • Scratch Cards

There are a total of 14 games at the moment, with bingo and scratch cards being the most common.

Ignition Casino has also recently purchased Bovada Poker and now offers a poker room of their own. You can read all about it at our complete review of Ignition Casino Poker.

Ignition Reward Points

Frequent customers to Ignition can look forward to their reward points program. One point is earned for every $1 wagered on a slot machine or every $4 bet on any other casino game. This is an excellent program for those who gamble with some degree of regularity, and high rollers can truly rack up some major perks.

Here are the reward levels you can aspire to, along with a few notable features for each:

Steel

Diamond

Making a Withdrawal from Ignition Casino

If you’re fortunate enough to amass some winnings at Ignition, you’ll eventually want to use their withdrawal option. This is a simple matter that incurs no additional fees, and it takes no longer than 48 hours to process if all preauthorized and pending deposits have been taken care of. It should be noted, however, that payment providers may charge an additional fee, so always pay attention when choosing which method to use.

As of this writing, players can choose from a pair of withdrawal options. These include the following, along with their minimums and maximums:

Check by Courier – The minimum withdrawal amount is $100, while the maximum is capped at $3,000.
Bitcoin – The minimum withdrawal is $20, while the maximum is $3,000. These withdrawals are processed once every three days.

If you wish to cancel a withdrawal (something casinos are always in favor of), you can do so from the site’s dashboard. You can also cancel a withdrawal request that’s already been processed, as long as it hasn’t been shipped.

Players are limited to one withdrawal per method during each seven day period. That means a player withdrawing money via courier has to wait a full week before making the same request (although they can also request a payout via Bitcoin during this time).

I’m less than thrilled by Ignition’s restrictions in this area. For example, let’s say that a player was fortunate enough to win $300,000 during a slots session. In order to get all their money, they would have to wait over two years if they used a single withdrawal option. If they used both, the time would be reduced to slightly more than a year.

This slow-but-steady rate of payment is bound to cause hard feelings among players who don’t bother to fully read the details of the site before signing up. Since Ignition is still growing, however, I suppose a cautious approach to payouts can be expected. As their overall coffers continue to swell over time, I’m hopeful that the payment and withdrawal limits are going to increase.

In fairness, though, it should be noted that these limits are in line with a number of other online casinos, including Bovada. While players would no doubt prefer to receive their winnings in a lump sum amount, it may simply be the case that all casinos prefer not to suffer a massive hit during a single month.

Contacting Customer Service

In a perfect world, you’d never need to contact customer service. Unfortunately, things sometimes go wrong, whether it’s a misplaced password or a question regarding bonus payouts. When these matters arise, it’s important that customer service representatives respond in a fast and efficient manner.

The Ignition Casino customer service department can be reached via three methods including the following:

By Phone – If you want to talk to a living being, you can call Ignition directly at 1-855-370-0600. The number is toll free for customers, so you don’t have to worry about racking up a big phone bill while getting your casino questions answered. The most recent customer service rep I talked to was friendly and easy to understand, and I was told that several other languages are also available. Nothing to complain about on this front.
By Contact Form – The standard method of contact for most sites, this form asks the customer to provide their name, email, and a brief message. You’ll also be asked to choose the type of problem, with the options including the following: general customer service, forgot account number/password, casino inquiry, and other. I sent a test submission for the purposes of this review, and I received a reply within five minutes informing me that my question would be answered within four hours. An hour later, I got the answer I was looking for. While those numbers aren’t terrible, I’d like to see 30 minutes shaved off their overall response time.
By Email – The final way to contact them is via email at [email protected] They have representatives standing by 24/7, 365 days to assist, so you can count on a response whether it’s Halloween, Easter, or Christmas. I sent them a test email when writing this article, and I received a reply in 12 minutes. I consider that a reasonably fast response time, and you should be able to expect a similar level of service.

Overall, I give Ignition high marks for their customer service. Reps are available every hour of the day, and the three methods of contact provide players with a decent range of options. I wish a live chat feature would also be included, but it may still become available as the site continues to grow.

Conclusion

While the site is still in its infancy, Ignition Casino has all the makings of a quality online gambling establishment. Their overall selection of games is impressive and features titles from a number of leading software creators, and their loyalty program offers solid returns for frequent customers. Their bonuses are decent enough for a site that’s just starting out, and their exclusive commitment to U.S. gamblers provides them with a large potential client base.

My only real complaint comes in the deposit and withdrawal department, as just a pair of options are available for each. This might change in the future, however, so it may not even be an issue by the time you read this Ignition Casino review.

Since the site is new, it’s too early to judge Ignition by customer reviews and complaints. This is always a major indication of the overall quality of a casino, but, until evidence says otherwise, I’m more than willing to give them a recommendation.

I used to have success playing Deuces Wild, often making significant withdrawals twice monthly or so. Now? Forget it. That game has been put on ice for me and other players I originally referred. The Indian authority regulating this site needs to investigate this site its ‘random card generator.’ I get the feeling with legalized gambling becoming more and more legal in US, this site is fleecing US players while it can.

I would say ignition is completely unrealistic and a bit of a scam when it comes to paying back their deposit bonuses but most are. I was beat by to straight flushes in a 15 minute spam both times vs full houses. Never happened live in my life and happened twice in 15 minutes on the site. Makes it more like fairy tale poker than the actual game. I also never received my deposit bonus but after seeing how it played I am fine not playing on the site anymore and will just play live.
