Who owns and operates Ladbrokes? How long have they been in business?

Ladbrokes is owned and operated by Ladbrokes Coral Group plc.

Ladbrokes got their start in 1886. They started with their betting shops, and then (much) later expanded into hotels and online gambling.

In 2015, Ladbrokes merged with the Gala Coral Group. This makes them Britain’s biggest bookmaker, with more than 4,000 shops, 30,000 employees and 7+ internet brands.

How’s their reputation? What do others think of them?

It depends on where you look and what gambling product you’re looking for.

For my research, I looked at casino and sportsbook reviews. That’s where I found the most (legit) 3^rd party sources to get information from.

Only ThePogg.com doesn’t recommend Ladbrokes for unfriendly terms and for being unresponsive to player complaints. What’s interesting about this is that ThePogg.com has several reviewers with Ladbrokes accounts – all of which have reported positive experiences.

I assume the unresponsiveness to player complaints might be because of the lack of replies from Ladbrokes on 3^rd party mediation sites, like ThePogg.com or AskGamblers.com.

I don’t think this is very fair, though.

Ladbrokes is a 100+ year old company with tons of customers. I think they might have better things to do than comment on one or all of the 33 random complaints on AG.com.

You know, like replying to directly to their customers via email, live chat or in-person.

Not only that, but Ladbrokes doesn’t have to. It’s not mandatory for an online gambling operator to work with watchdog sites. It’s nice, sure – but I don’t think it should be a mark against them if they choose not to.

I’m going to trust that a company like Ladbrokes – who’s been around since 1886 – has a much better idea of how to run a business and deal with customers than an internet startup who’s been around for less than 5.

For that reason, I’m more apt to ignore ThePogg.com.

That’s not to say Ladbrokes is perfect. Not even close. Because they do have complaints against them, as all companies do. And it sounds like one of those complaints revolves around their support.

But between the overwhelmingly positive reviews and their history, my opinion is that Ladbrokes is as safe as they come. If I could have an account here – if they accepted US players – I would.

Okay, now it’s time we get into the most important part – all of Ladbrokes gambling options. Before we jump in, though, I want to give you an idea of what we’re going to cover below.

Ladbrokes has TONS of stuff. They have a:

There’s no way we can reasonable talk about everything they have in our review. Not only would that take you forever to read, it’d be a nightmare for us to update.

So, what we’re going to cover are the basics – things that won’t change often, such as Ladbrokes’:

• Sports, events, markets and betting options.
• Casino, poker and bingo games.
• Software providers, compatibility and features.
• Betting limits, odds, prices, etc.

And anything else that sticks out as cool, unique or needs work.

For everything else, you’ll want to head to Ladbrokes. I think that’s a good idea anyway, as you’re only going to learn so much from any review.

With that in mind, we’ll start with the sportsbook. Then we’ll cover the casino, poker room and bingo hall.

What sports and markets can you bet on? What types of bets do they accept?

They cover so much – it’s crazy.

What I find interesting are the movies and music markets.

For example, in the movie section they were offering action on who’s going to be the next permanent James Bond. In the music section, they were laying odds for who’d be the 2017 Mercury Music Prize winner

I know, there’s not a lot of markets to bet on. But they’re both fun and interesting options that you won’t find at many other sportsbooks. It’s a nice change of pace.

Ladbrokes has a betting exchange, too.

You’ll find odds for both pre-match and in-play markets. Experts say you should have no problem having your bets matched, no matter what market you’re betting on.

Experts say that if you’re heavy into exchange betting and prefer to bet larger amounts, Betfair is a better choice.

For everyone else, Ladbrokes charges a 2-5% commission.

Ladbrokes also offers an esports section. Though I have to say, it’s underwhelming.

I first thought that maybe there wasn’t much going on in the esports world. But I took a quick look at Bet365 to compare options …and Bet365 offered A LOT MORE.

So, I did some digging and found a news report from October 2016 that said Ladbrokes dropped esports from their list of betting options. They didn’t give a reason why.

Then Ladbrokes brought esports back shortly after.

Anyway, who knows. Maybe Ladbrokes just doesn’t do much esports related business, so it’s not much of a focus for them.

What you will find here is LoL, CS:GO and DOTA 2. When I was there they had odds for the Gamescon Invitational Squad Tournament, as well as the 2017 DreamHack Masters Malmo. It doesn’t look like live betting was an option.

That was the extent of their esports betting options. Here’s hoping they expand this section in the future.

Do they offer live (in-play) betting? Do they stream matches?

Ladbrokes does offer live betting. In fact, some experts think it’s their best attribute.

While I was there they offered live football, tennis, basketball, badminton, rugby union/league, formula 1, ice hockey and golf betting. They had tons of betting options, too – nearly 300 for football, 40+ for tennis, 20+ for baseball and then a few dozen between the rest of the sports.

Ladbrokes streams matches, too, though their coverage is much smaller compared to their live betting coverage. If you have a balance or have made a bet in the past 24 hours, you can view their streams for free.

How are their odds?

Experts say they have some of the best prices for horse racing and grey hounds. And that they’re probably the best bookmaker for pricing American racing.

Ladbrokes’ football markets are strong, but not the best. And that goes for the rest of the primary markets they cover.

For everything else – the smaller markets – Ladbrokes is one of the worst.

What are their betting limits?

The max payout for most major markets is £1 million. That goes for horse racing (Great Britain and Ireland), English Premiership, Champions League and the rest of the first division.

This drops to £500k for greyhounds, Australian A League and Dutch Eredvisie, and most major sports – NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and MLS soccer, as well as tennis, cricket and golf.

Other markets will range from £100-£250k.

Do they limit winners?

I haven’t seen anything that suggests that Ladbrokes limits winners.

How do you access their sportsbook?

You can access their sportsbook from your browser.

If you’re on your mobile device you can text MOBILE to 86131 to get their app, or search the app store for it. It looks like they have options for iOS, Android and Windows. You can also go to m.ladbrokes.com and use their mobile website.

Like all sportsbooks, Ladbrokes has their strengths and weaknesses.

It sounds like many experts and rec punters alike think the software is functional, yet outdated.

Ladbrokes is hardly competitive in their pricing, too. Their profit margins are just too high, with their average margins in the 7-10% range.

Their esports section could use a little work, as well.

But they offer tons of sports coverage and markets. And while their pricing can be better, there’s still some value to be found if you know where to look (many experts say the emerging American sports is a good place to start).

Overall, it sounds like they have a solid sportsbook, though it might depend on who’s using it. But I think it’s definitely a no-brainer for your average, everyday recreational bettor.

Honestly, given all the software providers they work with, I expected them to have 500 at least, if not more than 700.

But 300 games is still a lot. More than I’d be able to play.

What are some examples of games you can play?

Here are some examples of casino games you can play, as well as any thoughts we may have about them.

There are two ways to view their slot machines – through the casino, by clicking on slots, or, you can click on slots in the top navigation.

I don’t think there’s much, if any difference between the two. I noticed several of the same games in each section.

The only way to know for sure, though, is to check them both out for yourself. Until then, here’s a list of slots you can expect to find here to give you an idea of the wide variety of slots Ladbrokes offers.

They have all sorts of slot machines, from slots with features and bonus rounds, to slots revolving around themes like fantasy, super heroes, money, sci-fi, games and more.

What stood out to me were the Batman slots. Not only am I a HUGE comic book fan, but I also saw one or two of these in a brick and mortar casino (in the USA) not long ago.

I don’t know about you, but I think it’s pretty cool to be able to play slots online that land-based casinos offer.

Here are some of the table games you can play at Ladbrokes, excluding their live dealer games (which we’ll cover in a few).

This is a solid selection of games – and there’s several more I didn’t include here.

What stands out most to me here are all the different games you can play. There are some duplicates, for sure, but I think it’s great that there are totally DIFFERENT games to choose from, too.

One other thing I noticed – and this probably applies to other areas of the casino, too – but Ladbrokes put a little mobile phone symbol over the games available to play from your mobile tablet/phone. This is a small, yet very helpful piece detail.

You’ll find their live dealer games in both the casino and their main live casino section, which you can find by clicking the live casino link in their top navigation.

This is a shorter list than I expected, though it’s enough for 99+ percent of everyone reading this. That said, I noticed a game or two located in the card/table game section that WASN’T in the live dealer section. So, you’ll definitely want to check both sections.

Instead of all these variants, I’d much rather have totally UNIQUE video poker games.

These are different types of number games and scratch cards. You’ll find many, if not most of these in Ladbrokes main Game section.

Here’s an idea of what you can play:

Pretty standard stuff. I don’t have much to add, other than I expected more options than what I saw there. But there’s a good chance there’s more on the back end.

I expected more than 290 games considering the software providers Ladbrokes works with.

That said, you don’t notice the (lack of overall volume) in the slots and table game section – arguably the most important sections in any online casino.

Once you get to the video poker section, I think it becomes a little more obvious they could use more games. Or, they could shift the balance from maybe their slots section to video poker. That way there’d be a few more unique video poker titles to choose from.

That said, it’s an impressive casino overall. I think most people will be happy here.

I know I’d be – especially after seeing the £750,000 progressive jackpots you could win playing the Batman and other DC Comics slot machines.

Ladbrokes Poker is on the iPoker Network. According to PokerScout.com they’re 10^th in overall traffic, and 8^th in international traffic (minus US-facing poker rooms).

When I last looked there was a reported 1280 players online, with 1533 cash game players, a 24-hour peak of 1543 players and a 750 player 7-day average.

What poker games and stakes do they offer?

Ladbrokes offers holdem (limits ranging from €0.01/€0.02 up to €5/€10), omaha (limits from €0.01/€0.02 up to €5/€10), 5/7-card stud and razz.

Most of the action is at the no limit holdem tables, primarily the shorthanded games. So much so that all games higher than €0.10/€0.20 or 6-max or heads-up.

They offer fast fold poker, too. Stakes range from €0.02/€0.05 to €1/€2.

The other interesting variant they offer is Six Plus Holdem. They reduce the number of cards in the deck from 52 to 36. The name comes from the fact that all the cards below a 6 is removed.

Do they offer SNGs & MTTs? What kinds of tourneys can you play?

As part of the iPoker Network, Ladbrokes guarantees more than €3 million in tournament prize pools every month. The following 3 charts gives you a pretty good idea of the types of tournaments you can play here.

What I like most about this is how small many of the buy-ins are. I’ve said this before, but this is a good network for players on a small budget. I feel like you get a lot of bang for your buck.

Then there are their freerolls. Ladbrokes offers €5,000+ just in freerolls for their depositing players. They also offer a new depositors freerolls and a €750 mobile weekly freerolls.

So, if you have no budget at all, or you made a deposit and busted, you can use their freerolls to try to revive your bankroll.

Last are their SNGs. They offer all sorts of single and multi-table tourneys, from turbos to short stacks to double or nothings. They also have their jackpot SNGs, where you can win a jackpot for winning so many tourneys in a row. This is unique to the iPoker Network.

Buy-ins range from €1 to €5,000 for holdem. Experts say there’s plenty of action throughout the day. Omaha action is pretty regular up to the €5 level.

Overall, between the guaranteed tournaments, SNG progressive jackpots and then their live event qualifiers, there’s tons for the tournament player to do here at Ladbrokes.

What about their software? How do you access it? What features or options are there?

They offer a download, instant play browser option and mobile app. Depending on the route you go, Windows and Mac desk/laptop and Android, iOS and Windows mobile devices are supported.

They have several features – most are pretty common – which include:

• 4 color deck
• Player notes
• Buddy list
• Hand history replay tool
• Auto re-buy in tourneys
• Mini table view

You can play up to 16 tables at once. The mini table view lets you tile your tables so you can view them all at once.

They also have multiple themes, avatars, card backs/fronts, audio, chat and animation options. There’s also a little widget bar where you can play slots or other casino games in a mini window.

Overall, it looks like Ladbrokes only covers the basics – but they do the basics well.

From the traffic to tournaments to cash game variants to the freerolls, I really feel as if this network is better suited for recreational players.

That said, part/full time pros might want to keep Ladbrokes running in the background to maybe fill in the gaps in their schedule, as the games should be much softer here due to the smaller limits, action oriented games (Speed Poker, Twisters, Jackpot SNGs, etc.) and the crossover traffic from the sportsbook, casino and bingo hall.

What bingo games can you play at Ladbrokes?

You have several options at Ladbrokes Bingo, including 90-ball, 80-ball and 75-ball bingo.

They also offer multiplayer bingo games, as well as special bingo rooms with different variants. For example:

• Lucky Numbers – There are 3 additional jackpots you can win.
• Deal or No Deal – Based on the TV show. There is a bonus feature for full house winners. This also has a £10,000 networked jackpot.
• Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Win an extra £500 for calling House within 40 calls.

You can access it from your browser. This applies to both desktop and mobile users. However, Android and iOS users can scan their QR code to get Ladbrokes’ native bingo app.

I’m not a bingo player, so there’s a good chance I might miss or screw something up.

But if I did want to play bingo, I think Ladbrokes would be a good choice. They have lots of different bingo games and variants to choose from. And I think the 1 and 2-player-to-go prizes are a neat twist.

They have games running non-stop, from the looks of it. I noticed several that are going to start in just the next few minutes.

Overall, while I can’t say they’re a good spot for hardcore bingo enthusiasts – because I simply have no idea – I think your general bingo hobbyist will be plenty happy here.

That said, I want to reiterate that there’s no way we could cover every little detail or nuance. Ladbrokes is simply far too big. So, if you liked what you read in our review, then I suggest heading over to Ladbrokes to poke around and discover more neat things for yourself.
